Last updated 27 July 2026

The short version. You can use this whole site without an account, and your setup (vehicle, crew, budget, wish list) stays in your own browser unless you sign in. The site measures how it is used: which pages and campers get looked at, without cookies and without knowing who you are. If you sign in, we store your email address, the setup you built, and (only if you type it) your ZIP code. If you ask to be emailed when a camper lists for sale, we store that request and email you when it happens, with one-click stop. There is no advertising, and we do not sell any of it.

What changed in this update

This policy promised that a widening of what is collected would be said plainly, so: as of 27 July 2026 the site measures usage, which it previously did not. The two sections below (usage measurement and listing watches) are the whole of the change. Nothing else widened.

If you never sign in

Your tow vehicle, your crew, the priorities you weight, your wish list and your compare tray are saved in your own browser’s local storage, under the key camperatlas_v1. That is a file on your device. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no way to read it. Clearing your browser data for this site erases it completely.

What does leave the browser is the usage measurement described in the next section: a record of what was looked at, tied to a random per-tab identifier rather than to you.

Usage measurement

Two kinds, both added on 27 July 2026:

  • Page counts and performance, through Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, the two scripts our host loads. They are cookieless, they do not follow you to other sites, and they show us aggregates: how many people visited, which pages, how fast the pages were.
  • Product events, recorded by the site itself into our own database: which campers get opened, starred, compared or passed on, where the priority sliders end up, and what gets typed into the deal checker (camper, model year, asking price). Setup completion records your chosen mode, tow vehicle and (if you entered one) your ZIP code, because “what do shoppers in a region want” is a question this site exists to answer. Events carry a random identifier that lasts one browser tab, and your account identity only when you are signed in.

What this measurement is for: deciding what to build, and understanding the camper market in aggregate. What it is not: there is no advertising or retargeting network, no social media pixel, no session recorder, no fingerprinting, and no selling or renting of your data, individually or otherwise. Market statistics we may publish or share are aggregates that cannot be traced back to a person.

If you do sign in

An account is optional. Signing in stores:

  • Your email address, so we can send the sign-in link, recognise you next time, and deliver any listing alerts you ask for.
  • Your ZIP code, if you enter one. It is stored as five digits and nothing more, and it is used for two things: matching listing watches to campers for sale near you, and the regional usage measurement described above.
  • The setup itself: the same profile, weights, wish list and compare tray described above, so it can be restored on another device.
  • Timestamps for when the account was created and last updated.

If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and an account identifier. That is the whole of it. We do not request access to your contacts, your calendar, your files or anything else in your Google account, and we could not read them if we wanted to.

One cookie is set: the session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is not used to track you between sites, because there are no other sites.

Listing watches and email

If you ask to be emailed when a camper lists for sale, we store the request: which camper, which model years, your ZIP and a search radius, attached to your account. When a matching listing turns up, you get one email about it: never a second email about the same listing, and nothing promotional. Every alert carries a one-click unsubscribe that stops that watch immediately.

Anyone can also report a camper they found for sale: a listing link, a price, a model year, optionally the listing’s ZIP. That describes a vehicle on the market, not a person, and it is stored without any identity attached.

What is not collected

No advertising or retargeting network, no social media pixel, no session recorder, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking of any kind. The only third-party scripts on the site are the two Vercel measurement scripts named above, and Vercel is our host, bound to process that data for us and no one else.

We do not build an advertising profile of you, we do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Where it lives, and who can reach it

Accounts, profiles, listing watches and product events are stored in a Postgres database run by Supabase on Amazon Web Services in Oregon, United States. The site itself, and its page-count measurement, are served and processed by Vercel. Both act as processors on our behalf and neither is licensed to use your data for anything else.

Access is enforced by the database rather than by the application: row-level security means a signed-in account can read and write its own rows and no other, so a bug in the site cannot hand your setup or your watches to somebody else. The product-events table cannot be read or written from a browser at all. Only our own server writes it.

The camper catalog itself contains no personal data. It is specifications of vehicles, and it is the same for every visitor.

Getting rid of it

Signing out ends the session. To have the account and everything attached to it deleted outright, email the address below and say so. There is no retention period and nothing is kept back. Deleting the account removes the profile and every listing watch with it. Product events are then detached from the deleted account: the account identifier is removed, and what remains is anonymous market history (“someone once compared these two campers”) with no way back to you.

You are also welcome to ask what is stored about you, and we will send it back in a form you can read.

Children

This is a tool for buying towable vehicles and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change ever widens what is collected, that will be said plainly here rather than folded into a longer document, as the update note above does.
